HOW TO INCENTIVISE YOUR BRIEF VIDEO GUIDE HERE ![]()
Community members are constantly receiving activities from the channels they follow. We want our activities to be interesting and fun, so users want to take part. This is why incentives play an important role in making our briefs more attractive for users to participate.
How to incentivise a brief in MyBulbshare
-
Go to my.bulbshare.com and find the brief you want to incentivise (unless you are already in the brief and just need to add the reward). Navigate to your channel and change the view to Advanced to see all briefs. You can also search by name if you know it. Once you find the brief you want to add incentives to, click the three dots and select Edit. Move to the Launch tab, where you will see the section for adding rewards. Click Rewards Center.
You will be redirected to the Rewards area. This is where you can view all rewards that have been created.
-
To create a new reward, click the Add New Reward button. This will open the reward settings.
-
Fill in all details for your reward: Go to General tab:
-
Reward name: Internal name used to identify the reward. This is not visible to community users; it is for internal purposes only.
RECOMMENDED: to include the brief name and market so you can easily see which brief the reward is linked to when viewing the list of created rewards. Example: "Exploring the Future of VR Gaming Survey_UK"
-
Title = This is the message that the users will receive once they have responded to activities successfully.
RECOMMENDED: to include the reward value they will receive for completing this task. Example: "Respond to this activity to get 50p PayPal reward!"
-
Channel: This is where your activity was created and will be launched = the channel where your community can see this activity. You can select a channel from the dropdown. All your available channels will be listed there.
-
Country: This indicates where the community members for the selected channel are based. If your community is only in the UK, select United Kingdom. (Your channel consists solely of users based in the UK.) If you have a multi-country community, select "Any".
IMPORTANT: If the wrong country is selected for your channel, rewards will not be paid. Always ensure the correct country is selected.
-
Type: This is the type of reward we want to issue to responders. PayPal reward is used, unless set up differently.
-
Activated: As default - ACTIVATED. It means that the reward is active and once the brief is launched, it will trigger the reward for each response.
-
Exceptions:
- If "end-fail" logic is used = responders will not be paid.
-
If "Required approval" is enabled = the reward is not paid automatically. It has to be approved manually. Usually used for higher rewards (shopping task, specific media is required ...), where moderation is required before releasing rewards.
-
Exceptions:
-
Requires Approval: As default - DEACTIVATED. If a higher reward is set up - recommended to activate it - (shopping task, specific media is required ...). Moderation is required before releasing rewards.
-
No. of Briefs: Usually 1, unless the respondent has to complete more than 1 brief to get the reward. Used when there are more parts = more briefs launched to the same audience and insights cannot be used unless all parts are completed by the same participants.
-
Specific Briefs: As default - ACTIVATED. This cannot be deactivated as always specific brief(s) have to be completed to receive a reward.
-
Units per Reward: This is how much ONE respondent will get paid for completed brief(s). If there are more briefs needed (No. of Briefs is more than 1), this is the reward for completing all of them, not just one. The default currency is GBP. If payment is made in another currency, the unit value must be converted to GBP.
- Total Units: This is the reward budget set up for this activity as a TOTAL in GBP - not for one response. Once the reward budget is fully used, brief will close (as there is no money left to be given to the participants).
-
RECOMMENDED If there are no screening-out questions in the brief, set the required response limit in the brief and add a small additional buffer to the Total Units in the reward setup. This helps ensure that any extra participants who complete the brief before it fully closes will still receive their incentives.
-
Example:
If you require a minimum of 50 responses and the incentive is £1 per completed response:- Brief response limit = 50 responses
- Reward Total Units = £60
-
This setup provides a buffer for up to 10 additional completed responses to still be rewarded before the incentive budget is exhausted
IMPORTANT: IF MORE RESPONSES ARE REQUIRED AND THE TOTAL UNITS ARE FULLY USED - go back to the SAME reward set up and UPDATE THE TOTAL UNITS - DO NOT SET UP A NEW, ADDITIONAL REWARD.
- Once all filled - go to Requirements session.
-
Set up Requirements:
- Click on "Choose" and either select the brief you want to add reward to from the drop down list or copy and paste:
- Brief title - if internal name was NOT filled under "General" brief set up
- Internal brief name(optional) - if filled under "General" brief set up
- Once you see the brief you want to add reward to, click on it and then press "Add"
- Press "Save"
-
Reward has been now added to this brief. If it is set up for more than 1 brief (No. of Briefs), add all relevant briefs the same way - Adding all required briefs, then click "Save"
IMPORTANT: If you can't find your brief, check that the channel is set up correctly (if you have more channels under your organization and your brief is set up for channel "ABC", but the reward is set up for a different channel, the system cannot allocate your brief.
- Click on "Choose" and either select the brief you want to add reward to from the drop down list or copy and paste:
-
Reward is now set up - How to see that the reward is added:
You can see that the brief has the reward linked under my.bulbshare.com:
-
Feed view: top left corner:
-
Advanced view: next to the 3 dots:
-
If you go back to your brief - under "Launch" session, you will see your reward and how much has been allocated.
How to set up reward for completing more than 1 brief:
-
- Go to my.bulbshare.com
- Open one of the briefs participants need to complete all briefs must already be created and set up within the same channel before linking the reward).
- Click the three dots next to the brief → select Edit
- Navigate to the “Launch” section → click “Reward Center”
- Click “Add New Reward”
Then complete the setup:
-
Internal name: Add a label so you can easily identify the reward
(e.g., “Tasks 1–3” to indicate it applies to all tasks) -
Title: This is the message users will see after completing ALL your briefs
(recommended to include the incentive value) - Channel: Select the channel these briefs belong to
- Country: Select correct country
- Type: Cash (PayPal – GBP)
- Require approval: Activate this in case you want to review submissions and only reward good quality ones
- Number of briefs: Set to the number of the briefs they need to complete (users must complete all these briefs to trigger the reward)
- Units per reward: Amount paid after completing all these briefs
- Total units: Total project budget (once used up, the brief will close automatically)
- Go to the “Requirements” tab
- Add all briefs they need to complete one by one
- Once added, you’ll see them listed together
This setup applies to all briefs at once, even though it’s created under just one brief.
Do NOT repeat this setup for each brief individually — this would create duplicate rewards and could result in users being rewarded multiple times.
Once configured, only users who complete all briefs associated with the incentive will be eligible for the reward.
